Mini-symposium description

This mini-symposium is a platform to share new models, methods, experimental, analytical and numerical results obtained in studies of fracture driven by fluids in the presence of various coupled physical processes occurring in nature, engineering, technology, medicine, etc. A special emphasis is to be made on challenging applications addressing applications in energy transition for mitigating climate change.

Suggested topics include but not limited to:

  • Fracturing of cohesionless porous materials

  • Fluid induced shear cracks and nucleation of induced earthquakes

  • Concurrent multiple fracturing

  • Complex rheology in hydraulic fracturing

  • Novel numerical techniques

  • Numerical codes verification of hydraulic fracture growth

  • Fluid driven fracture growth in heterogeneous material

  • Laboratory validation of fracture growth models including cases of permeable rocks

  • Fluid driven fractures in the context of energy transition applications (CO2 sequestration, Enhanced geothermal systems, Hydrogen underground storage, etc.)
